Requesting from Other Libraries
If an article or book chapter is not available from an Avila database, we may be able to request a copy for you through Interlibrary Loan (ILL). With ILL, we can search and request from the collections of libraries across the country. We cannot request copies of entire books, but we can request that a print book be loaned. Visit the Interlibrary Loan page for more information or to place a request.Tutorials
Frequently Asked Questions
The Avila library’s Books page includes Avila’s searchable catalog, a list of all Avila e-book collections, and options for borrowing from other libraries.
Some books can be found in the library, but most are kept in the library’s closed stacks. Stop by the library circulation desk or place a request in the library catalog to have a book brought up for you.
Publication Finder
You can search for books, journals, videos and more in Avila’s Publication Finder, or browse by subject or database. Publication finder works at the book/journal level, so you can’t use it to go straight to an article or chapter.
Skip the Search
Don’t want to search every time you find something? Consider LibKey Nomad, an extension you can add to your browser. When you find an article in Google Scholar or some other site, LibKey Nomad will check Avila’s collection and add a button that links to full-text if available.
Note: LibKey Nomad only works with articles.
Research Help
Your Avila librarians are happy to assist you throughout your research process.
Tutoring Help
The library is your home base for most Academic Success & Tutoring services. The STEM Health Zone can be found in O’Reilly.
Writing Help
Need help with a paper or citing sources? The Writing Center can also be found in the library.
You should be able to access all of Avila’s databases on your phone, though most are easier on your computer.
Some databases have apps that improve the mobile experience.
BrowZine
BrowZine lets you search, read & save Avila journals in one place.
EBSCO
EBSCO is the source for Search Everything and many databases. You can search, read and save resources to your EBSCO account.
Films on Demand
Watch academic and entertaining videos with Films on Demand.

Copyright Restrictions
Copyright Restrictions: The copyright law of the United States (Title 17, United States Code) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of the copyrighted material. Libraries and archives are authorized to furnish a photocopy or other reproduction under certain conditions specified in the law. One of these specified conditions is that the photocopy or reproduction is not to be "used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship, or research." If a user makes a request for or later uses, a photocopy or reproduction for purposes in excess of "fair use," that user may be liable for copyright infringement. This institution reserves the right to refuse to accept an Interlibrary Loan request if, in its judgment, the fulfillment of the order would involve violation of copyright law.
