Located in Kansas City, the Goppert Performing Arts Center (PAC) offers a creative home for performances, rehearsals, and educational events. Our professional spaces come with flexible rental options and expert support from our staff to help you bring your production to life.

Main Theatres

Avila offers two dynamic theater spaces designed to elevate every performance experience, whether you’re producing a full-scale theatrical show, hosting a student showcase, or coordinating a community arts event.

Each venue has its own unique atmosphere and capabilities, allowing performers, directors, and educators to choose the space that best fits their creative vision. From the grandeur and capacity of the Goppert Theatre Main Stage to the intimate flexibility of the Franze Family Black Box, these professional-grade facilities are equipped with the lighting, acoustics, and technical support needed to bring stories to life. Both spaces are available for single-day rentals or multi-day productions, with optional rehearsal room access and backstage accommodations to streamline your event.

Goppert Theatre – Main Stage

  • 468-seat thrust stage
  • $1800/day, $700/additional day
  • Weekly rate: $5200

Franze Family Black Box Theatre

  • 120-seat max
  • $750/day, $500/additional day
  • Weekly rate: $3750

Rehearsal & Event Rooms

Whether you’re leading a rehearsal, music practice, or small workshop, these rooms offer comfort, acoustics, and adaptability.

  • Sue Wilcox Music Hall – $250/hour
    Large acoustically-treated space ideal for musical rehearsals or recitals.
  • Large Rehearsal Room – $500/day or $100/hour
    Spacious open room with mirrors, lighting, and flexible seating for movement or acting-based sessions.
  • Tompkins Rehearsal Room – $300/day or $100/hour
    Smaller room for private rehearsal, instruction, or low-capacity workshops.
  • Helmes Room – $525/day, $150 as an add-on
    Great for breakout discussions, green room space, or event coordination.

Sue Wilcox Music Hall

A beautifully designed, acoustically treated space perfect for professional musicians, vocal ensembles, solo recitals, and intimate concerts. With a warm and resonant sound profile, this hall is ideal for high-quality music rehearsals, voice coaching, and smaller-scale performances. Best For: Choir and band rehearsals Vocal or instrumental recitals Music workshops or auditions Features: Acoustical paneling for sound clarity Grand piano (if available) Music stands and seating provided Quiet, distraction-free environment

Tompkins Rehearsal Room

Tompkins Rehearsal Room – $300/day or $100/hour Smaller room for private rehearsal, instruction, or low-capacity workshops.

Large Rehearsal Room

Large Rehearsal Room – $500/day or $100/hour Spacious open room with mirrors, lighting, and flexible seating for movement or acting-based sessions.

Helmes Room

Helmes Room – $525/day, $150 as an add-on Great for breakout discussions, green room space, or event coordination.

Technical Support & Add-ons

Required & Optional Crew

  • Resident Stage Manager (required): $12/hour
  • Lighting, Set, or Costume Designer: $15/hour
  • Master Electrician: $15/hour
  • Sound Engineer: $12/hour
  • Stagehands / Front-of-House Staff: $10/hour

Tech Add-ons

  • Pit Plugs: $500
  • Line Set Changes: $300

Labor charges apply for events held outside Campus Services hours (7:00 AM – 3:30 PM, Mon–Fri)

Booking Requirements

To ensure the safety of all participants and proper use of the facility, the following are required:

  • A liability insurance certificate with at least $1,000,000 in coverage, naming Avila University as an additional insured
  • Completed liability release forms for all outside entity participants
  • Final rental quotes may vary based on event needs, staffing, and schedule
