On Campus International Admissions (Undergraduate/Graduate)

Hybrid International Admissions (Undergraduate/Graduate)
Avila’s hybrid model is built to meet the face the face requirements needed in hybrid programs for international students and allow student to live anywhere in the US.
- Students attend virtual courses for 8 week term
- At end of each 8 week term they must attend a two day face to face residency event
- We have residency sites in Kansas City, Dallas, Chicago, New Jersey, Miami and in Spring we will be adding Los Angeles.

All students must demonstrate that they can show financial means to cover the tuition and living expenses of the program they are applying for.
Once the necessary financial documents have been submitted, they will be reviewed by the Avila DSO team and confirmed if they meet the requirements for an I-20 to be issued. If there are any queries or issues with the documents provided, you will receive a notification from the Avila team.

Your I-20 will be issued after your financial documents have been approved by our DSO. The I-20 will be sent to you via email, and you should check the document to ensure all details are correct.
After your I-20 has been sent another email will follow introducing you to your Academic Advisor
In order to receive an F-1 Student Visa to study at Avila University, you will need the following:
- Your passport
- Your I-20 from Avila University. View the requirements to get your I-20
- Form DS-160 application. Check a U.S. embassy/consulate for information.
- A bank statement showing you have sufficient funds to attend Avila University
- SEVIS paid receipt. Pay your SEVIS fee at https://www.fmjfee.com
U.S. embassies or consulates in certain countries may have additional document requirements. After you have the required documents, present them to a U.S. embassy or consulate to receive your F-1 student visa.
To receive a student visa, you will also need to show:
- Your plan is to study at Avila University.
- You are connected to your home country and will return there after completing your degree.

After receiving and notifying Avila about your VISA acceptance, an email will be sent out to you regarding the next steps, including deposit payment.
You now need to consider preparing for your travels to the United States which will include:
- Securing your accommodation and housing with Avila. To get started you will need to complete the housing form and questionnaire to let our team know what you are looking for.
- Booking your flights and informing the team of when you will be flying to the US.
- Remember – you can only enter the US 30 days or less before the start date on your I-20.For summer enrollment, orientation is May 2. We would prefer for you to arrive on campus one week prior to this so you may get situated. Please submit your arrival form so we know when to expect you. If you are coming prior to April 25th, please reach out to generalresidencelife@avila.edu to inform us of your early arrival. Failure to communicate your arrival may lead to your residence not being ready.

To confirm your enrollment and secure your place, a deposit is required within 7 days of receiving your VISA.

Once payment has been confirmed by Avila then the pre-arrival process will commence to ensure you have everything set up prior to travelling.

If you don’t want to live on campus, there are a variety of housing options within close proximity to campus. See a preferred list here. Avila recommends that all international students stay on campus as we believe it provides the best option for students who would like to have a fully immersive experience while they study in the US.
- Hi RES International UG – Mandatory 2 years of on campus living
- HI RES International GR – Mandatory 1 semester of on campus living
- Low Res/Hybrid UG or GR – no on campus living requirement but could apply to live on campus
Avila University has a policy that mandates all new International Graduate Students must reside on campus for one semester. This policy highlights the university’s commitment to supporting students by creating a holistic environment that fosters academic, developmental, and social growth.
If you are joining us for the fall semester, you must arrive on campus by August 21st. If you arrive earlier, you will be asked to find your own accommodation. please reach out to generalresidencelife@avila.edu to inform us of your early arrival. Failure to communicate your arrival may lead to your residence not being ready.
Every international student is automatically enrolled in medical insurance provided by Avila’s insurance plan. You will be billed for this insurance and it will show up on your bill. More information about insurance is provided in your Pre-Arrival Guide.
Shortly after your acceptance and deposit, you will be sent a Pre-Arrival Guide. This guide will provide you all the information you need to know about arriving in Kansas City, and about Avila University. Make sure you read this information thoroughly so you know what to expect. In order to make sure you arrive and are greeted and welcomed in the Avila way, we want to know when your arrival date is. Some information we will request is:
- When are you flying?
- What are your flight details?
- Have you booked accommodations and if so, are they on campus or off campus?
- Do you have transportation from airport?
It is important you fill out the following pre-arrival form.
It is very important that you are settled in before Orientation Day. This day will be a long-day of important information to help you get settled in and to begin your time as an Avila Eagle! During Orientation, you will be confirmed as fully enrolled and will be issued your payment for your first semester.
