I started my professional career as an art teacher in Kansas City, Ks. I then returned to graduate school as a full-time student at KU in the program of School Psychology. Upon graduation, I was offered a position in the Topeka Public Schools as the School Psychologist for Topeka State Hospital, during which time I was given a wonderful opportunity to complete training in family systems therapy through the Menninger Foundation. Four years later I married, moved to Kansas City, and was offered a job in the Blue Valley School District as the School Psychologist for Blue Valley North High School. During my tenure as a Psychologist for the Blue Valley district, I served as the district’s Psychologist Coordinator, Private School Coordinator, and had the opportunity to serve on many district-level committees as the district grew and implemented various initiatives and programs. After 15 years as a BV Psychologist, and upon completing my Administrative certification, I accepted a position as an Administrator at Blue Valley North. Two years later, I was offered a position as one of the district’s Special Education Coordinators, and then the position as Principal at Blue Valley Academy, the alternative high school for the Blue Valley School District. I retired from the Blue Valley school district in 2018 with 36 years in the field, 30 years of which were in Blue Valley.
