Aimee Sippel, M.S.

Adjunct

I received my B.S. in Biology and Microbiology with a minor in Chemistry at South Dakota State University. While a student at SDSU, I was employed at the South Dakota Animal Disease Research and Diagnostic Laboratory in the PCR Laboratory. After graduation, I was employed in the animal health vaccine industry, first at Intervet Animal Health in Dallas Center, Iowa working on swine vaccines, and then at Benchmark BioLabs in Lincoln, Nebraska. In 2004, I received my master’s degree from South Dakota State University; my area of research was the development of a real-time PCR assay for the detection and quantitation of Porcine Respiratory and Reproduction Syndrome Virus (PRRSV). Our findings were published in the Journal of Clinical Microbiology, and the developed assay was commercially produced and is still used for the detection of PRRSV by diagnostic laboratories. I have been a full-time faculty member at Presentation College in Aberdeen, South Dakota, since the Fall of 2004.
