Dr. Stowe’s expertise is in elementary and teaching multilingual students. In addition to working
in teacher education in both undergraduate and graduate capacities at the university level, she has
22 years of experience at the K-12 level including time as a classroom teacher, assistant
principal, principal and instructional coach. It was during her tenure at an urban district with
many multilingual learners that she discovered her passion in helping educate students who were
learning English as well as content. In 2017-2018, she was awarded an English Language
Fellowship where she worked with the National Institute of Education in Sri Lanka to better
prepare teachers to teach English. She has also taken education students for short-term
experiences in Swaziland, China, Bulgaria and Ecuador.
