Avila University rolls out an online MA in Management/Fundraising led by internationally renowned scholar Dr. Adrian Sargeant with support from the Hartsook Institute for Fundraising Management

KANSAS CITY – Avila University is offering a Master of Arts in Management/Fundraising online, the only fully online master’s degree with a focus on fundraising in the U.S.

The innovative, online research and knowledge-based program is made possible through a partnership between Avila and Hartsook Companies, Inc., prominent experts in fundraising consulting.

“Most nonprofit degree programs do not have a class in fundraising,” said Bob Hartsook, JD, Ed. D, founder of the Hartsook Institute for Fundraising. “Less than a handful of accredited programs offer fundraising in the U.S. Our Master’s program is designed to change the mindset of professionals about how they can play a leadership role at their organization. We focus on the relationship between the nonprofit and the philanthropist. “

Students will be immersed in a curriculum led by internationally renowned expert and visiting professor Dr. Adrian Sargeant. A prolific researcher, author and educator, Dr. Sargeant combined his research and insight with the business experience of Hartsook to develop this degree program, which is available only at Avila University. “The online Master’s will help our students engineer a fundamental shift in the way we think about donors,” said Sargeant, “For instance, giving social information to donors increases their gift by 10 percent. Can you imagine the impact we could have if we could increase every donation by 10 percent?”

The fundraising profession is growing estimates show 12,000 jobs will be added between now and 2022.

“The Hartsook program is flexible, cutting-edge and great for all types of nonprofit professionals, from the seasoned pro to those just starting their career,” said Robin Rowland, vice president of advancement and communications for Wayside Waifs and Avila grad. “You’re learning from the best in the field in every class and bringing back knowledge to use right away at your organization.”

With a master’s in fundraising, students learn to take the lead to secure financial support to further their organizations’ philanthropy and better the world.
