Free Resources for Avila’s Online Undergraduate and Graduate Students
You don’t have to physically sit in one of our classrooms to be an Avila Eagle! As a member of our university community, you have a long list of free resources to help you succeed.
Academic Advising
As an Avila student, you will be assigned an academic advisor. This advisor is the student’s primary contact for all things related to their experience at the University. If you cannot find information or solutions using the online resources, reach out to your academic advisor. The advisor can resolve the issue or find an appropriate resource on campus to do so.
If you are unsure who your advisor is, you may find their name on MyAU under the Academic tab, Advisor Info.
Writing Center
All students are encouraged to utilize the Writing Center to help them learn proper academic writing skills to succeed in their coursework. The Writing Center has virtual appointment opportunities for online students. Click here to check out the Writing Center page.
Canvas Support
All online (and on-campus) students will use Canvas as the learning management platform. You will gain access to Canvas upon being enrolled in their first course. Within Canvas are various technical assistance tools to help you troubleshoot issues. If you have a challenge you cannot find solutions for within Canvas, please contact the helpdesk at helpdesk@avila.edu
Tutoring Center

Study Buddies (Group Study)
Study Buddies is a tool within Navigate that allows students to opt-in to the study buddy program to find classmates with whom to study. Check out the details here to get started with Study Buddies.

Library
When you need to research a topic or find sources for more information in your courses – all students have access to the University Library. Check out the large online resources provided by the library, chat with a librarian for questions, or request articles or books. Click here to visit the library webpage, or call 816-501-3621.
Career Services
All students have virtual access to resources to help them prepare for the workplace, find new jobs, and engage in networking and preparation. Students can use Handshake (an online job search tool), engage with a career coach, or get assistance with resume development and interview skills. Bookstore
Online students can choose to use the Avila University Online Bookstore to order their textbooks. If you have any questions, call 816-501-3630.
MyAU
MyAU is the student portal to their academic and financial records. You will be given access to the MyAU upon enrolling into the University. Here you can review course schedules, view textbook requirements, pay bills and view financial aid award information. If you need assistance accessing MyAU, contact helpdesk@avila.edu.
Microsoft Office Tools
All students, upon enrollment into courses, will receive a University email AND access to a selection of Microsoft Tools that will aid them in coursework. The Office tools include Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and many others. If you need assistance, contact helpdesk@avila.edu .
Graduation Information
Each year the university hosts a graduation ceremony in May. To prepare for graduating from the university, here are some important notes to remember:
- Bachelor graduation audit – Undergraduate students must complete a Request for Bachelor Graduation Audit – 2-4 semesters prior to expected graduation. This can be completed on the MyAU portal
- Masters graduation application – this form is also in the MyAU portal and must be completed in order to initiate graduation processes.
- Graduation Fee — All students will be charged a $175 graduation fee upon graduation audit or application completion.
- Diplomas can either be mailed to you or picked up on campus.
