Avila University is seeking applicants for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Computer Science appointment to begin August 2018.

Responsibilities will include teaching introductory and upper-level Computer Science, Software Engineering, Database Management and Cybersecurity courses.  Candidates for the Assistant Professor position will be expected to apply innovative teaching techniques to course content and will supervise undergraduate research for majors.  The successful candidate will develop a Cybersecurity major, work with other faculty to develop a data management program and direct the online Computer Science program, which includes hiring and supervising adjuncts for developing and teaching courses. 

Qualifications
A Master’s Degree in Computer Science or related field and a background in Cybersecurity and Database Administration is required. A PhD is preferred, along with a commitment to excellence in teaching, scholarship and service to the campus community.

Responsibilities 
This is a full time position; M-F and on-call with some evening and weekends

  • Provides individual, couples, and group counseling, crisis intervention, support services and community mental health referrals for Avila students; provides short-term support and community mental health resources/referrals for faculty/staff and their families. Establishes and maintains confidential counseling files.
  • Assists Avila students and alumni with career services needs through individual appointments, e-mails, phone calls, and drop-ins.
  • Provides direction for department to follow strategic plan in collaboration with staff and supervisor. Delegates and monitors progress of projects.
  • Initiates and coordinates building of relationships with employer contacts to develop employment and internship opportunities for students and alumni.
  • Provides training, educational outreach programs and promotion about mental health and wellness issues throughout the year; collaborates with the Director of Health Services as co-advisor for peer educator program.
  • Plans and presents career programs to meet expressed and anticipated needs of Avila students and alumni.
  • Participates in campus committee assignments (permanent member of the Avila Care Team). Initiates and oversees records that track statistics relevant to students and alumni served. Manages departmental budgets.
  • Provides emergency/crisis intervention; provides consultation to Avila faculty and staff regarding student behavioral and emotional issues.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in clinical or counseling psychology, counseling, clinical social work or other similar clinical training with valid clinical licensure.
  • Counseling experience in a mental health setting dealing with diverse client populations and diverse issues.
  • Experience with crisis intervention.
  • Experience with assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning.
  • Experience in career development/advising within higher education or in private industry.
  • Experience with data collection and analysis are essential to the Center's effort to report on students' employment and graduate school outcomes.
  • Experience collaborating with staff or faculty who have non-clinical backgrounds.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current or recent counseling experience in a college setting dealing with diverse client populations and diverse issues.
  • Experience and knowledge in the area of alcohol and drug education and prevention in a college environment.
  • Strong knowledge of career development theory needed to create and execute innovative and effective career development and recruiting programs.

Responsibilities
The Library/Learning Commons Director provides leadership for the Hooley-Bundschu Library Learning Commons.  This position has oversight of the library staff and all initiatives working with faculty, students, and the community for services provided in the library.  Additionally, the Director is responsible for the development and implementation for strategic directions in line with the Avila University strategic plan.  This position works with the Associate Vice President for Information Services for oversight of the library/learning commons budget.

Qualifications
Master of Library Science degree from an accredited ALA institution required and a second Masters is preferred in a relevant field.  A record of success in increasingly responsible positions as a library administrator, with at least five years of upper-level leadership and at least two years of supervisory experience in an academic library setting.

The successful candidate will have a combination of academic library administrative background skills, a proven record of building strategic programs and partnerships across organizational boundaries. The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate in their previous employment collaboration with faculty, students and staff and active participation in state, regional, and/or national library and professional organizations.

Maintenance Mechanic

Responsibilities           

Under the direction of the Maintenance Manager, is responsible for the general repair and maintenance of the building equipment. Primary responsibilities: Operates and maintains all HVAC equipment, including but not limited to: Chillers, boilers, condensers, fin-tube, PTAC units, air handlers, and associated control systems. This full time employee also repairs and installs electrical equipment, such as electrical outlets, ballasts, circuit breakers, etc, and other electrical systems equipment; repairs plumbing: sinks, traps, toilets, urinals, flush valves, supply valves, etc. and water fountains.; painting and patchwork to maintain buildings in good condition as needed; performs locksmith responsibilities; carpentry work and repairs to sidewalks and parking lots. Performs maintenance of buildings and grounds, such as snow removal. Other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications         

Must have knowledge of MEP: HVAC, electrical, plumbing systems, related tools and their uses, and carpentry. Ability to repeatedly lift up to 60 lbs, stand and/or wait for long periods, perform the mentioned tasks while in various physical positions, and climb up to 15 ft. ladder. Ability to follow both oral and written directions, work with and take direction from staff; have basic computer skills. Read blueprints and equipment specification/operation manuals. Experience and/or coursework in Ammonia Refrigeration and Boiler operations also required. High School/GED required. Substantial maintenance experience in above mentioned tasks. Must pass a background check for criminal records.
