Avila-CMH Educational Partnership

Memorandum of Understanding

This Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) is entered into on November 1, 2025, by and between Children’s Mercy Hospitals of Kansas City (CMH) and Avila University of Kansas City (Avila).

Purpose

This MOU establishes a collaborative partnership between CMH and Avila to provide educational opportunities for CMH employees through tuition discounts on select undergraduate and graduate programs at Avila University.

Duration

This agreement shall be in effect for three years, starting January 1, 2025, and ending December 31, 2027. At the end of the third year, CMH and Avila will review and update the agreement to continue.

Programs

  • Undergraduate Online Programs
  • Graduate Online Programs
  • Certificate Online Programs

CMH employees are eligible for a 10% reduction in tuition for the following undergraduate programs:

  • B.A. – Business Administration (Accounting, Finance, Management, Marketing, International Business)
  • B.A. – Healthcare Administration
  • B.A. – Human Resources
  • B.A. – Strategic Communication
  • B.A. – Psychology
  • B.S. – Computer Science
  • B.S. – Cybersecurity
  • B.A. – Criminology and Justice
  • BSM – Social Work

CMH employees are eligible for a 15% reduction in tuition for the following graduate programs:

  • M.A. Management (Change Management, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging)
  • M.A. Marketing
  • M.A. Workplace Instructional Design
  • MBA (Accounting, Executive Leadership, Finance, Healthcare Administration, International Business, Management, Marketing, Project Management, Strategic Human Resources)
  • M.A. – Strategic Communication
  • M.S. – Kinesiology
  • M.S. – Psychology
  • M.S. Technology Management (Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Business Analytics, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Engineering Operations, Digital Marketing)
  • M.A. – Digital Marketing and Social Media

CMH employees are eligible for a 15% reduction in tuition for the following certificate programs:

  • Applied Health Science Certificate
  • Change Management Certificate
  • Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging Certificate
  • Executive Leadership Certificate
  • Healthcare Management Certificate
  • Management Certificate
  • Project Management Certificate
  • Strategic Human Resources Certificate
  • Workplace Instructional Design Certificate

Tuition Remission and Payment

  • CMH students can have tuition remission amounts billed directly to CMH.
  • Any amounts beyond the discount and tuition remission will be the responsibility of the student to pay out of pocket or apply for financial aid.
  • Students may take advantage of payment plans offered by Avila University.

Admission Process

CMH students interested in attending Avila must first communicate directly with the Dean of the College of Innovative Professional and Graduate Studies to receive the unique CMH application for admission to Avila programs

Student Requirement

CMH students must attend two face-to-face or synchronous sessions to maintain eligibility for the program tuition discount.  Upon admittance into the program of choice, these sessions will be arranged between the student and the Avila CIPGS Dean.
