Avila Alumni Association Board
The alumni board serves as an advisory body with the responsibility to advise the University on alumni-related policies and activities. The Alumni Board meets bi-monthly during the school year and each Alumni Board member serves on at least one committee.
The Avila University Alumni Association cultivates an ongoing connection between alumni, current students and stakeholders - who build traditions, create opportunities and serve the community.
To continually serve as ambassadors for Avila University, through their mission and by carrying on the Sisters of St. Joseph Carondelet’s values.
Looking for a way to make an impact on your alumni experience and give back to your school? Join an Alumni Board committee! Committees meet throughout the year to help plan and execute a variety of alumni events and activities. The following committees currently have positions open:

Reunions are the perfect opportunity to see how the campus has evolved while connecting with classmates and friends and reminiscing about your college days. Traditionally, class reunion events are held during Homecoming in the fall.
Avila is looking for inspiring alumni to serve as mentors to traditional undergraduate students. Mentors can build relationships with current students to help prepare them for life after graduation. A mentorship commitment lasts one semester, with flexible meetings to fit your schedule. Mentors and students are paired based on backgrounds and interests. Become an Alumni Partner
If you’re still in the area, consider becoming a Class Alumni Partner (CAP). Graduates who’ve landed farther can become Regional Alumni Partners (RAP). These programs are your chance to take a leadership role and stay in touch with your classmates. Some of the benefits include:
- Be “in the know” about Avila and Avila’s events.
- Strengthen Avila’s reputation and the value of your degree.
- Receive recognition in University publications.
- Network with fellow alumni.
CAPs and RAPs engage classmates and fellow alumni in their area to build awareness around Avila news and alumni events.
As a CAP or RAP, you may be called upon to assist the Alumni Office with the following:
Serve as an ambassador of Avila University by promoting the interests of the University, its students and alumni in the community.
Organize class volunteers.
Contact class members about upcoming reunions or alumni events.
Assist in the planning of Homecoming.
Relay news about your classmates for use in Accent magazine and on our website to highlight their accomplishments.
Recommend names to the Alumni Association Board for award consideration.
Be a liaison between your classmates and the University regarding activities, event programming and issues.
Recommend stories for alumni publications.
Keep the University informed about changes in your classmates’ contact information and help locate “lost” alumni.
Encourage participation at the annual Avila University Steer Dinner & Auction.
Serve as a spokesperson for class giving competitions.

Several times a year the Alumni Office holds alumni receptions at various locations outside of Kansas City. Our Regional Alumni Partners are key to the success of our outreach efforts for connecting alumni to Avila. We encourage you to become a RAP today or attend an alumni reception when we come to your area!

Host a Reception
Avila alumni love to reconnect and reminisce about their days on campus. Our friends and alumni have hosted receptions in their homes, on campus or at local gathering spots.

Volunteering is a great way to stay engaged, and opportunities are flexible and available throughout the year.
Volunteer for an Event
If you’ve been to campus lately, you probably found yourself saying, “I hardly recognize the place!” As part of a $4.3 million capital improvement plan, Avila has added the Wylie residence hall, entrance signs, renovated the library into a transformational learning commons and the Science & Health building into the Marie Joan Harris, Ph.D., CSJ Science and Health complex. As Avila celebrates a century of inspiration in 2016, we added a statue of Avila’s patroness, Saint Teresa of Avila.
