Health Professions: Pre-Occupational Therapy

Prepare Yourself.

Pre-Occupational Therapy or Pre-OT is a Career Track for students who plan to attend occupational therapy school after their undergraduate studies.  Pre-OT students take a prescribed sequence of courses that prepare them for OT school, which is a two-four year professional program that awards the Masters of Occupational Therapy (MOT), or Doctorate of Occupational Therapy (DOT). Students who are interested in becoming an Occupational Therapist will be able to obtain the required courses to apply to an Occupational Therapy Program at Avila. The following courses are required by many schools:

  • BI 111 General Biology: Cells and Genes
  • BI 220 Human Anatomy and Physiology (8 credit option)
  • MA 155 Elementary Probability and Statistics
  • CO 101 Fundamentals of Communication
  • PY 101 General Psychology
  • PY 208 Lifespan Development
  • PY 310 Abnormal Psychology
  • EN 111 Composition I: Rhetorical Discourse
  • EN 112 Composition II: Rhetorical Argument
  • SO 101 Introduction to Sociology or AN/SO 122 Introduction to Cultural Anthropology
  • PL 255 Ethics
