Health Professions: Pre-Chiropractic

Chiropractic medicine focuses on treating patients without the use of drugs or surgery. Advocating a holistic philosophy, the Pre-Chiropractic Career Track at Avila emphasizes prevention and wellness over treating disease and injury. Students who are interested in chiropractic medicine will be able to obtain the courses that are needed to apply to schools of chiropractic medicine. Courses that are typically taken by these students follow:

  • CO 110 Fundamentals of Communication
  • EN 111 Composition I: Rhetorical Argument
  • HE 101 Introduction to Health Care Careers
  • PY 101 General Psychology
  • 12 hours of biology with at least one course with a laboratory (BI 111 General Biology Cells and Genes; BI 112 General Biology Ecology and Evolution; BI 220 Human Anatomy and Physiology are helpful and meet this criteria)
  • CH 135 General Chemistry I 
  • CH 137 General Chemistry II
  • CH 216 Organic Chemistry I
  • CH 217 Organic Chemistry II
  • BI/CH 342 Biochemistry I
  • PH 231 General Physics I
  • PH 232 General Physics II
