Bachelor of Social Work (BSW)
In social work, graduating from an accredited BSW program is absolutely necessary for licensure upon graduation. Most agencies recognize the BSW as the strongest entry-level social work degree because it leads to professional licensure.
In addition, the majority of Avila’s BSW graduates have been able to go on and complete a master’s degree in social work with only one additional year of schooling. This quickly increases their salary potential as well as qualifies them for licensure at the next professional level, and entrance into additional human service specialty areas.
Avila’s department has been accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) for more than 40 years, most recently receiving an outstanding Reaffirmation of Accreditation in 2014. This accreditation guarantees students a course of study that meets the field’s gold standard. And, our faculty have real-world experience working in professional social work settings, as well as teaching!
