While the recent change in the Missouri State law makes it legal for anyone older than 21 to buy, possess, deliver, use, manufacture, and sell marijuana in the state, Avila University’s campus policy prohibiting the possession or use of marijuana remains unchanged.
As possession of marijuana remains illegal at the federal level, the federal Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act prevents Avila from allowing the possession or use of marijuana on campus for any purpose. At this time, a change to our campus policy would make our campus out of compliance, meaning students would no longer be able to use federal financial aid, grants, and loans to attend Avila.
The current policy regarding alcohol and drug use on campus and the smoking policy listed in the Student Handbook remain in effect.
