(July 19, 2017) Avila University and Great Western Dining have extended our long-running relationship, keeping the dining service and catering company on the Avila campus for years to come. As part of the agreement, Great Western is investing in constructing a new coffee shop inside Marian Center, with the costs of the project to be born by them.
The announcement of the contract renewal and coffee shop also coincides with the decision to add a 4th meal option for residential students at no additional cost, and maintains the cost of the student meal plans that has not increased going on three years. Great Western Dining also makes a significant annual contribution to Avila, including sponsorship of the annual Steer Dinner.
The coffee shop, which is scheduled to open at the beginning of the 2017-18 school year, will be available for brewed coffee, blended coffee, pastries and more, and will located just inside the Marian dining hall. Locally owned and brewed Mother Earth Coffee (http://motherearthcoffeeco.com/) will be served. Mother Earth is a brand in line with Avila’s sustainability efforts and right relationships. The coffee shop will be open to everyone, and hopes to be a viable option for those students not on an annual meal plan.
