Avila University announced today its participation in AWS Academy, an Amazon Web Services, Inc. (AWS) program providing a ready-to-teach cloud computing curriculum for higher education institutions. This program will provide opportunities for students and professionals to learn skills that will prepare them for careers in the rapidly expanding cloud computing sector beginning this July.
“Avila’s Workforce Development Academy constantly seek out new ways to best serve our students and Kansas City community, and AWS Academy’s cloud computing curriculum expands our capacity,” said Andy Jett, dean of the College of Professional Schools. “Computing-related skills are essential for an increasing number of high-quality jobs at businesses and organizations in Kansas City and globally. The AWS Academy allows Avila to prepare its students for these careers, not just now, but well into the future.”
Avila will initially offer certification in four strategic areas: Cloud Foundations, Cloud Developer, Cloud Architect, and Cloud Sys Ops. These areas were chosen to provide students a significant understanding of cloud computing concepts to prepare them for AWS Certification exams. These remote instructor-led courses, which range from eight to 17 weeks, will give students a detailed overview of concepts and how to utilize AWS core services to meet organizational needs. In addition to the certification programs, Avila will offer coursework in Data Analytics and Machine Learning.
The AWS Academy curriculum is developed and maintained by AWS experts who ensure students learn the most-current best practices to prepare them to be professionally competitive. AWS Academy also works solely with AWS Academy-accredited educators trained by AWS to become proficient in relevant technologies.
