February 26, 2025 | Kansas City, MO — Avila University has launched a new intramural sports program, expanding opportunities for students to engage in athletic activities. This initiative reflects the university’s commitment to offering a wide range of activities for all students.
The program is the result of months of preparation by the student engagement team. Intramural activities provide students with opportunities to improve both their physical and mental health while fostering connections with peers through socially competitive events.
This semester, Avila University will offer a variety of intramural activities to cater to different student interests. Scheduled activities include a flag football skills challenge and scrimmage, dodgeball, Super Smash Bros gaming, and basketball tournaments.
The first intramural event, a dodgeball tournament, will take place on March 8, 2025, at Mabee Fieldhouse on the university’s campus. Preregistration is required through IMLeagues, with the registration link available on the Avila Student Life Instagram page, along with future updates regarding intramural activities.
Additionally, the Office of Student Engagement is seeking students to join the Student Intramural Sports Association. “This is a great opportunity for students wanting to get involved on campus and assist with the planning and execution of intramural activities,” said Amari Leath, student engagement coordinator at Avila University.
