Majors: Accounting (honoree) and Marketing
Avila Faves: “I transferred to Avila University before my sophomore year to join their newly established wrestling program, becoming the first victory in the history of Avila University Men’s wrestling. Upon graduation, I will join my older brother as a first-generation college graduate that also competed in athletics for this University. As a first-generation graduate, I benefitted from the additional resources provided to me via the institution’s TRIO program, and my advisors Professor Martinez and Professor Gold. As a student of Avila’s School of Business, I found the courses to be valuable, especially considering the expertise of the professors and their willingness to teach for understanding. As a dual major in Accounting and Marketing, it was intriguing to learn from Professor Carvalho (Accounting) and Professor Vandehaar (Marketing) as they drew upon their professional knowledge from their own businesses. Credits go to Dr. Buckler and Dr. Beck as well, whose expertise is clearly displayed in course lectures and material. I prefer the relatively small class sizes because it makes communication with professors more convenient. As a student eager to learn, I can tell you that the individual’s drive will dictate the amount of knowledge retention.”
Updates/ Plans: “I am currently enrolled in the MBA 4+1 Program, and with eligibility still remaining, it is likely I will pursue a Master’s degree through Avila while competing on the mat. I will use the education I have received to grow my small business which has grown from a small side hustle and is now an official LLC. Also, I will look for internships and other job opportunities that will ultimately improve my business knowledge as I look to accomplish my career goals.”
