(May 12, 2018) KANSAS CITY, MO – Avila University held commencement exercises on Saturday, May 12 at 10:00 a.m. Of the 431 walking, 117 graduate students and 261 undergraduate students came forward in Bartle Hall at the Kansas City Convention Center to receive their college diplomas.
Mia Rosinski, B.S., Radiological Science, gave the undergraduate commencement address. Rosinski is the recipient of the Jeanne Collins Thompson Ariston Award. The award is presented to one outstanding senior, based on academic merit, leadership and service. Ariston winners are considered the top representatives of Avila’s founding mission and core values.
Taberie Kramer, M.B.A., Business Administration, gave the graduate student address.
An Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters was also presented to William M. and Jean M. ’76 Buchanan by David D. Kerr ‘76, Chairman, Board of Trustees and Ronald A. Slepitza, Ph.D., CSJA, President of Avila University.
Master’s and baccalaureate degrees were awarded from the Schools of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, Business, Education, Professional Studies, Nursing, Science and Health, and Visual and Communication Arts.
