The Avila Golf Biomechanics Lab represents a unique and transformative collaboration between the Avila University kinesiology and golf programs. Driven by a shared vision and the relentless pursuit of competitive excellence, Gerald Larson, Ph.D. (Chair Kinesiology) and Chad Habluetzel (Head Men’s and Women’s Golf Coach) have combined their respective program resources to establish one of the top developmental environments in all of college golf. In addition to separating Avila from its on-course collegiate competitors, the lab creates endless opportunities for kinesiology faculty-student mentoring and publishable research.
The Avila Golf Biomechanics Lab features the integration of TrackMan Pro swing and ball flight analysis, SAM BalanceLab 3-D force plate technology, Dartfish ProSuite motion analysis software, and multiple high speed cameras. The lab also contains a Power Plate, TRX suspension training system, kettlebells, dumbbells, and other golf-specific fitness equipment to help develop the individual athlete as they refine their game.
