Additional concerts are scheduled for the Basilica di Santa Maria sopra Minerva in Rome on June 25, San Filippo Neri Church on in Siena on June 27 and the Church of Santa Maria Miracoli in Venice on June 28.
In addition to the opportunities to perform, the music ensemble will experience Italian arts and culture by visiting Florence, Verona and Milan.
Judith Becker is a sophomore at Avila, a member of the University Singers, and is happy to be representing her University. “What I love about being at Avila is being surrounded by a community of like-minded people who are compelled to make music”, said Becker. “Being able to visit Vatican City during our centennial year is a true testament to Avila’s Catholic identity.” Avila University is celebrating its 100th Anniversary in 2016.
Known as the “2016 Avila Roma Corale”, the choir will present a varied repertoire of classical works while touring the country and will return on June 30. Keep updated on their journey via Facebook (Avila University Music Department) and Twitter (@avilamusic).
