Dr. Nancy Cervetti, professor of English, will attend the Schlesinger Library Summer Seminar on Gender History titled, "Writing Past Lives: Biography as History" at the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study at Harvard University. Selected as a full seminar participant, Dr. Cervetti will present a portion of her S. Weir Mitchell biography in a workshop led by Nancy Cott, director of the Schlesinger Library and professor of American history at Harvard.
Dr. Cervetti was one of 36 scholars selected to be a full participant in this prestigious seminar. At its conclusion, she will remain at Harvard and conduct research on S. Weir Mitchell correspondence at the Houghton Library.
Dr. Cervetti joined the Avila faculty in 1993 after receiving her Ph.D. from the University of Iowa. She specializes in British literature and feminist theory and teaches courses that include: women and literature, Darwin and literature, images and realities of women, and introduction to literary criticism.
