Information for 2009 Commencement Weekend

SENDING CEREMONY AND RECEPTION
UPDATE 5/14
The Avila Graduate Sending Ceremony and Reception has been moved to Mabee Field House because of predicted stormy weather. Graduates participating in the Ceremony should meet in Whitfield conference Center before 7 p.m.
Faculty and staff who are participating are to meet in lower O’Reilly.
Friday evening, May 15, 2009
7:30 p.m.

This ceremony is to recognize and celebrate our Mission and Values, and to bless and send our graduates of 2009. We ask that all Bachelor and Master degree candidates plan to attend this ceremony designed to give special honor to your achievement.

Dress for graduates is Business Casual (no caps and gowns.) Reservations are required by May 1 and can be made in the Student Affairs Office in the Marian Center during regular office hours (8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.) or by email to tracy.owens@avila.edu.

United Methodist Church of the Resurrection

Leawood, Kansas
No limit on the number of guests, no tickets or reservations required for guests. For those planning dinners, parties, etc. after the ceremony, please allow 1 ½ - 2 hours for the ceremony. Graduates will need to be checked in and ready to line up no later than 9:30 a.m.


CAPS AND GOWNS
 Caps and gowns are now available for pick-up in the Bookstore.   If you are participating in Commencement and have not ordered a cap and gown, please call the Bookstore immediately at 816-501-3630.   The cost of the cap and gown is included in the $100 graduation fee which is automatically billed to the student accounts of all degree candidates. Questions regarding caps and gowns should be directed to the Bookstore at (816)501-3630.

Caps and gowns not picked up by 3:30 p.m. today (Friday) will be at the church tomorrow.

grad imagesPHOTOGRAPHY
 A photographer from Chappell Graduation Images will be present at the commencement ceremony. An email will be sent to your Avila email account approximately 72 hours after the ceremony, when the proofs are available to view online. You may enter additional email accounts to receive notification by pre-registering on the Chappell (GradTrak) website. Proofs will also be mailed to you within 5-7 days following the ceremony.
