Does
Avila require the GRE for the graduate psychology programs?
No, the GRE is no longer required.
Are classes offered during the day? When are the class times?
Most of the graduate psychology classes begin at 6:00
pm and end at 8:40. There are a few exceptions for classes that
begin at 4:00. There are also weekend intensive classes that
a student can chose to take as an elective credit. Internship will
require students to commit daytime hours.
Are there any classes on-line?
There are not any classes in the program that are 100%
on-line. However, a few classes are in a blended format where
students meet for a portion of the class on campus and then the
other portion of the class is on-line.
When does your Master’s degree program start?
The Counseling Psychology and General Psychology programs accepts
students for enrollment in the fall, spring, and summer.
Do you have a cut-off date for applications?
The Counseling Psychology and General Psychology programs do not
have a specific enrollment deadline; however, we frequently limit
our acceptance to the first set of 25 applicants who meet our criteria
and so it is important to file an application as soon as possible
to assure a reserved space in the program.
Do you have an application fee?
We do not have an application fee.
What is candidacy?
Candidacy is the graduate status that students achieve after successful
completion of 15 credit hours in the Counseling programs (i.e.,
Counseling Psychology and Counseling & Art Therapy). Candidacy
status indicates a student has demonstrated the basic skills necessary
for effective counseling, academic achievement, ethical behavior
and general professional comportment.
