The wonderful, storied history of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet, our founding sponsors, provides an introduction into the naming of our lifetime giving society levels. Our heritage includes:
| The LePuy Order |
LePuy, France is considered the birthplace of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet. In 1650, six women dedicated themselves not only to lives of prayer, but to the works of mercy that would most benefit the dear neighbor.

| The Bishop Joseph Rosati Order |

| The Bishop Henri de Maupas Order |
Bishop Henri de Maupas, a friend and disciple of St. Vincent de Paul, embraced the innovation in religious orders that the newly founded Sisters of St. Joseph represented. Until he gave approval for a community that would focus as much on works of charity as time in prayer, religious women lived only in cloisters. Interaction with the poor of LePuy formed the dedication to service of the dear neighbor that is the bedrock of the Sisters of St. Joseph today.
Avila’s Bishop Henri de Maupas Order is comprised of donors who have supported the University with gifts of $250,000 - $499,000 |

| The Mother St. John Fontbonne Order |
During the French Revolution, some of the Sisters of St. Joseph’s convents were suppressed and the women forced to live as laypersons. Several were imprisoned, and five were executed. Mother St. John Fontbonne was responsible for re-assembling the community of sisters following the fall of Robespierre. Her courage and faithfulness in the face of adversity maintained the continuity with the original community founded in 1650.
Avila’s Mother St. John Fontbonne Order recognizes lifetime gifts of $500,000 - $999,999. |

| The Fr. Jean Pierre Medaille Order |
The firm belief that a spiritual life is a combination of prayerfulness and service to others led Fr. Jean Pierre Medaille to found a community of women radically different from the orders of religious women that existed at that time. Fr. Medaille, a Jesuit priest and gifted teacher, envisioned an order that would draw upon the spirituality of the women to care for the poor, take in orphans and provide education for ordinary people. Today, the community of Sisters of St. Joseph remain true to their founder’s intent. Over 19,000 Sisters live and work in nearly every corner of the world.
Avila’s Fr. Jean Pierre Medaille Order honors lifetime gifts of $1,000,000 and higher. |
