Renovation of the Orscheln Chapel
[ View the Progress ]
The Kay Orscheln Chapel is the physical focal point of Avila’s identity and mission. However, in recent years, the chapel has begun to show its age, with pews and carpet installed in 1967 falling into disrepair, and the functionality of the space increasingly limited by its fixed design.
In the coming year, Avila will complete a renovation of the chapel in order enhance its functionality and appearance. The renovated space will be able to better serve our vibrant campus ministry program, the Avila University Choir, as well as retreat/prayer groups like the CSJ Associates who meet on campus.
Avila’s proposed $130,000 renovation will provide for new carpet and lighting, flexible seating, and more appropriate/reverent display for our chapel art. The project will restore the space as a point of pride for campus and community gatherings.
