GOALS OF TEXT
Provide education students opportunities to work with model teachers in multiple, diverse settings, including urban, suburban and rural elementary, middle and secondary schools.

Prepare education students for multicultural urban, suburban, and rural classrooms to increase the success rates of our teachers in each of these settings and to broaden the experiences of future teachers to include a variety of settings in their education, from initial experience in the classroom to the final selection of the professional teaching site.

Develop a cadre of model teachers (TEXT Team) through a well-defined selection process who will act as mentors to undergraduate and graduate education students in practicum, class observations and/or student teaching.

Provide opportunities for the TEXT team and Avila education faculty to collaborate on ideas and strategies, improving the pool of graduating teachers to include teachers with heightened confidence to teach effectively in any educational setting.

Provide Avila education students opportunities early in their course of study to further analyze, define and/or redefine their intended teaching area.
Provide students valuable evaluation of performance in basic areas of attendance, professionalism, ability to work with students, as well as for personal improvement; for reference for admissions into the School of Education at Avila.

Provide education students with a mentor to whom they may turn for continuing guidance in their professional development.

Provide mentors an opportunity for professional development and networking of new ideas and strategies.
