As a social historian, her particular interest is the story of ordinary people and their experiences over time. This interest takes her into the study of women’s history, the history of the family, and minority history. As often as possible in her courses, her students explore what happened to ordinary people like themselves throughout history.
She was pleased to receive a vote of confidence for her teaching style when she was voted Professor of the Year at Avila in 1996 and again in 2003.
