Avila University Women's Basketball
Team Earns 4 All Conference Honors
Kansas City, MO - As the
Avila University women's basketball program prepares for the Heart
of American Athletic Conference (HAAC) postseason tournament,
they received news that 4 players earned recognition for their
outstanding regular season efforts.
Alyson Young, junior post
from Rogersville, Missouri, was named First Team All HAAC. Alyson
led the Eagles in rebounds (228), blocked shots (39), total points
scored (545), and averaged 18.8 points per game. Nationally, she
finished the regular season ranked first in the NAIA with a .611
field goal percentage, 7 th in total points scored, and 8 th in
points per game. As a sophomore, Alyson was named Honorable Mention
All HAAC.
Torie Murillo, sophomore
guard from Blue Springs, Missouri, was named Second Team All HAAC.
She led the Eagles in assists (128) and in steals (90); she finished
3 rd on the team in rebounds (154) and blocked shots (9). Her
90 steals and the 128 assists ranked her 6 th and 13 th in the
NAIA.
Sophomore guard from Ozark, Missouri,
Courtney Gimlin, and senior forward from Clinton, Missouri, Jaime
Kenney, were named Honorable Mention All HAAC. Courtney finished
the regular season with 378 points, averaged 12.6 points per game,
pulled down 90 rebounds and led the Eagles with 71 made 3 point
baskets. Jaime finished the season second on the team in rebounds
(159), blocks (21), 3 point baskets (67), points (399), and averaged
points per game (13.3).
The Lady Eagles finished
the season with a 19-11 record and 13-7 in the HAAC. They will
travel to Baker Thursday night to open the HAAC Conference Tournament.
