This
past week was a blast! Each year, Psi Chi, the psychology honor
society at Avila, makes a trip to Chicago for the Midwestern
Psychological Association Conference. In the years past, I was
not able to attend but this year I have made it possible. Dr.
Bucher and six other psychology majors attended the conference
with me. The trip began early on Thursday morning. Our flight
to Chicago departed at 6:05 a.m., so we had to leave Avila at
4:00 a.m. to make it to the airport on time.
Once
we arrived in Chicago, I boarded my first subway. When we got
off of the subway we had to make the trek to our hotel with
all of our luggage in tow. The walk would normally not be too
bad, but it started to downpour. I am very sensitive about getting
my hair wet, so I took all the necessary precautions to keep
myself and my hair dry.
After
we settled down at the hotel it was off to the conference. There
were lots of interesting sessions to choose from but I decided
to attend the session on the effects of prolonged viewing of
television, video games, and computers on teens' mental state.
It was so interesting!
When
the conference ended I met up with with the rest of the Avila
gang and we used the rest of our time to explore the city. We
had some delicious Chicago style pizza and then we went shopping
on Michigan Avenue. I spent more money than I should have, but
it was well worth it.
It
was a great vacation considering finals week is right around
the corner! Wish me luck! See you next school year!
